5 Famous Indian Cricketers Suspended for Match Fixing

Fixing can include both spot and fixed matches. In match-fixing, the outcome of a match is predetermined, whereas in match-fixing, a certain event or a certain part of the match is predetermined.

Cricket is considered a gentleman’s game, but there have been instances where players have been found guilty of being involved in repairs in one way or another. Here is a list of 5 Indian international cricketers who have been banned after being found guilty of a fix.

1 Mohammad Azharuddin: The famously elegant mid-level batsman captained India in 47 Tests in the 1990s. His international playing career came to an end when he was involved in the infamous match-fixing scandal in 2000 and was subsequently banned for life by the BCCI.

2. Ajay Sharma: Ajay Sharma has been an excellent scorer in first-class cricket, mostly for Delhi, scoring over 10,000 points on a high average of 67.46. With a minimum qualifying of 50 innings, only three players (Sir Donald Bradman, Vijay Merchant and George Headley) have improved this average in first-class cricket. In 2000, his career came to an end when he was banned from cricket for life following a match-fixing scandal.

3. Manoj Prabhakar: Average right hand player and lower level batsman, he opened opportunities for the Indian cricket team until his retirement in 1996. In 1999, Prabhakar was involved in Tehelka’s match-fixing exposure, but he himself was indicted. Accession and then ban on BCCI cricket. He was sacked as coach of the Delhi cricket team in 2011 after publicly criticizing players and selectors.

4. Ajay Jadeja: He played 15 test matches and 196 ODIs for India. Jadeja’s achievements in cricket were later followed by a 5-year ban for match-fixing. 5.S. Sreesanth: Right hand fast and medium bowler and right hand batsman, he played for Kerala and in the Indian Premier League he played for the Rajasthan Royals. He is also the first Kerala Ranji player to play Twenty20 cricket for India.
